Bursts

too many images at once—
too tightly contained—
a steady beat
from the seat
of a train

no, get off—
pass me, train.

a narrow hall lined with water balloons
and I’m in a suit of spikes
avoiding the walls

giant stargazer lilies blooming in my face
too many and too close,
unfolding and lapping, grotesque

unwelcome blooms,
water balloons,
the prompting-me moon
and i’m some cartoon,
twelve eyes spinning stars

and someone watering
summons the sublime
these days

take it away
